NetScreen SSL VPN Appliances Named Security Technologies Product of the Year by Frost & Sullivan

NetScreen Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: NSCN) today announced that its Neoteris Secure Access (SA) Appliances have been named as the 2003 Security Technologies Product of the Year by industry analyst firm Frost & Sullivan.

According to Frost & Sullivan, "Entering the market boldly in 2001, Neoteris, acquired by NetScreen in 2003, was the first company to bring an SSL VPN product to the market. Since then, the NetScreen Secure Access Appliances have outpaced competing technologies from both a technological development and a marketing standpoint. Probably most significant is the SA Series content intermediation engine; which is the cornerstone of the product's flexibility and ease of use. This technology dynamically translates incoming SSL requests into the native application language for smoother and more secure communication to backend applications. All SSL VPN competitors have admitted that their products require some setup of translation capabilities to facilitate communication with certain applications."

"NetScreen is excited that its Secure Access Appliances have been named the 2003 Security Technologies Product of the Year by Frost & Sullivan, a leading enterprise research firm," said Jason Matlof, vice president of marketing for NetScreen's secure access products. "Our success is due to our focus on customer demand for a cost-effective and secure access technology for remote employees and corporate partners. We will continue to focus on key customer needs as we move forward into this emerging market segment."

NetScreen's Neoteris Secure Access Appliances

NetScreen's Neoteris Secure Access (SA) Appliances, which have earned the most awards and industry accolades in the SSL VPN market since its first products shipped in 2001, are the market's leading SSL VPN product line. Enterprises worldwide have selected the NetScreen-SA 1000, -SA 3000 and -SA 5000 product lines because they enable cost-effective deployment of easy-to-use, full-featured, secure access capabilities to mobile knowledge workers and authorized partners.

The NetScreen-SA appliances provide application-layer access, stringent access controls, and granular auditing and reporting capabilities to minimize IT headaches and security concerns. The SSL-based platform offers enterprise-class high availability and performance scalability options so secure access can be deployed on a wide scale while reducing user downtime and lost productivity, and improving network performance. The appliances have passed rigorous security audits by TruSecure Corporation, Cryptography Research, Inc., and security and forensic computing expert Dan Farmer.
