Mike Farrell, Managing Director of Spectrum Equity, a leading growth equity firm that specializes in partnering with internet-enabled software and data services companies, has been named a Top Software Investor of 2024 by GrowthCap.
A former two-time recipient of GrowthCap’s 40 Under 40 award, Michael joined Spectrum in 2009 as a Senior Associate and has played a pivotal role in the development and execution of the firm’s software investment strategy over the past several funds. Over his 15+ years with Spectrum, his representative investments include CINC Systems, Origami Risk, Bats Global Markets, Datassential, EagleView Technologies, Expert Institute, Jagex, and Litmus.
In GrowthCap's sixth year running this awards process, the number and caliber of nominees has continued to climb. To be selected as an awardee, a nominee must first have the strong support of others in the software ecosystem, which may include their own firm, their portfolio companies, and/or their peers in the industry, among others.
Further research is then performed to assess the nominee’s overall career, breadth of investing experience, capability for scaling companies, recent investments made and exited, as well as character, among other factors. While many nominees were ultimately not selected this year, we want to acknowledge their talent and contributions to the software industry.
