Spectrum Equity Named to Inc.’s 2023 List of Founder-Friendly Investors for the Fourth Consecutive Year

Boston, San Francisco and London — Spectrum Equity, a leading growth equity firm focused on internet-enabled software and data services companies, has been named to Inc.’s 2023 List of Founder-Friendly Investors for the fourth consecutive year.

Inc.’s Founder-Friendly Investors list honors the private equity, venture capital, and debt firms with the best track records of success backing entrepreneurs. The final list recognizes firms that remain actively involved with the businesses they invest in, and that have earned the trust of the entrepreneurs they support to help drive growth.

“Now more than ever, founder-led companies need financing partners that offer guidance, expertise, and understanding—not just capital. These are the private equity, venture capital, and debt firms that have founders’ backs when it comes to accelerating growth,” says Scott Omelianuk, editor-in-chief of Inc. Business Media.

“We’re honored to be recognized as a Founder-Friendly firm. Our entire business has been built on getting to know founders, their companies, and their growth ambitions, often years before we actually have a chance to invest,” said Vic Parker, Managing Director of Spectrum Equity. “By taking the time to build deep relationships and familiarity with how they operate, compete, innovate, grow, and problem-solve, we establish the type of trusted partnerships with founders and management teams that are essential to driving growth.”

Spectrum’s investments in founder-led companies include CINC Systems, Customer.io, Definitive Healthcare, Dispatch Track, Origami Risk, Otter.ai, Tenstreet, Verafin, Zenwork, and many others. Additionally, 90 percent of companies in Spectrum’s portfolio are led by first-time CEOs.

To compile the list, Inc. went straight to the source: entrepreneurs who have sold to private equity and venture capital firms. Founders filled out a questionnaire about their experiences partnering with private equity, venture capital, and debt firms and shared data on how their portfolio companies have grown during these partnerships.
